Choosing an Air Purification System

The right air filtration for your home

  • Air Quality
  • Air quality ranks as one of the most influential factors on your health, but so much of what is harmful in our air is undetectable to the human nose. This makes things a bit tricky. Your body can’t always tell you that the air you’re breathing is contaminated, but unless you have an air purification system, there’s a high chance that it is.

Curious as to what’s in your air?

On average, the air inside your home is 2-5 times more polluted than the air outside. For the young, old, and those with respiratory issues, polluted air can be a key contributor to asthma, allergies, and other health problems.

Not All Air Purifiers Are Equal

Many of the air purification systems on the market are nothing more than dust filters that can reduce some of the allergens in your home. Be wary of products that use tech jargon to try and lure you in. Words such as “HEPA filter”, “carbon”, or “electrostatic” sound great, but many times they don’t deliver on the performance front.
Carbon filters in true air purifiers will be solid. The impostor’s carbon filters will have a thin sheet with carbon dust on it or you may see a light mesh of black fibers.
Electrostatic filters only remove large particles. They are far from adequate.
HEPA filters have a wide range of ratings. Make sure that the unit you’re looking at doesn’t have a low grade filter. Low grade filters aren’t able to trap a high percentage of particles, potentially leaving the air you breathe riddled with pollutants.

    Understand Your Needs

Consider what you want to achieve with your air purification system.
    Help reduce asthma symptoms?
    Dust the house less often?
    Cut down on sneezing?
    Destroy airborne viruses?
Remove airborne bacteria that can lead to serious illnesses?
    Reduce odors?
    Remove cancer causing chemical compounds?

The more you want your air purifier to accomplish, the more capable your system needs to be. If you’re only looking to remove dust and pollen, most air “purifiers” will do an okay job. If you want to reduce potentially dangerous airborne viruses, bacteria, and fungus, you’ll need an effective, whole home solution.

    PureAir™ Air Purification Systems

Combining exclusive UVA-light technology and hospital grade filtration, the PureAir Air purification system by Lennox goes above and beyond any other purifier on the market today. PureAir is designed to combat all three categories of air contaminants.
Particles – Removes 99.9% of pollen, mold spores, pet dander, and dust. Removes 95% of fine particles such as infectious airborne bacteria and smoke down to 0.3 micron.
Bioaerosols and Microorganisms – Removes 90% of bioaerosols including airborne viruses such as MERSA, cold, and flu viruses.
Destroys volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and fumes from furniture solvents, paints, and carpeting. Odors from pets, cooking smells, cleaning products are also eliminated.

    PureAir Technology in 3 steps

      1. The Carbon Clean 16® filter removes particles and bioaerosols from the airstream that other air filtration systems simply can’t stop. Particles as small as 0.01 micron are removed from the airstream.
      2. Next, the odor and chemical filled airstream is exposed to the catalytic surface.
      3. The UVA and catalyst work together to break down chemical vapors and odors into water and carbon dioxide. No harmful by-products are produced.

TIP Remember to change the filter on your PureAir™ air purification system annually to keep it working effectively. OR have CW Suter Services install your PureAir™ system, and we’ll do the remembering for you! Our Residential Service Plan includes a Spring and Fall checkup, during which we’ll inspect your system and can change the filter out for you.
